2 yrs and 6 months old and going rusty :(
This is galvanised steel but it is rusty as can be seen in the picture.

I've already had the boot lock replaced because the aluminium was corroding and it is just back form having the front bumper repainted because the paint in the panel joints was flaking off.

BTW before we all start complaining about Mercedes this is the VW!

What do you expect - you have been using it:rolleyes:

Um that paint job looks suspect I would send it back and claim "not fit for purpose"

This is referred to (in the trade) as 'NGS'

Nearly Galvanised Steel

It was specifically developed to aid in production cost reduction

Along with the carp fuel economy it is stating to be trying. If it wasn't so useful then it would have gone already, I will be jobbing it into the dealer and see what they do this time. One thing is that they have never had an issue with putting it in for warranty, although as it isn't even 3 they shouldn't really should they.

while dropping it in at Alexanders

you could stroll down to Stratstones and drink their coffee and eat their biccies. Much nicer ambience I've found.
See how many cups you can get through before they eject you or make you buy a merc.

I have the "pleasure" of taking it to the Van centre at Cleckheaton, >£38K and it's a VAN!

blimey! £38k would have bought 2 ford transits. maybe not as well made, but as the caravelle is (or used to be) a tarted up transporter, the transit is a better van IMO for doing what vans are meant to do. i had a transit. i wouldnt have any other van in that size category! far cheapeer than MB or VW offerings and better than the french alternatives (including the renault built vauxhall vans!)

There isn't a better 7 seater (with luggage) than the Caravelle, yes they are expensive but they hold their value and (should) last well. The Transporter shuttle is a lot cheaper but the Caravelle has a lot of options and fitments making it a great way to transport a (large) family.
Claire is also at 40 weeks today however Blobule is quiet happy in his current location much to Claires dismay :(.
