If a picture be worth a thousand words,
Then surely someone will explain,
What this is hidden in my menu,
and what will i possibly gain,
from having it set onto "auto"
as opposed to setting it "off"
I know my lack of this knowlege
is sure to make you all scoff
But pity this poor merc owner
who always does as he is told
who wants to alter his heater
Now that the weather's turned cold
so at the moment Ive set it to "off"
Cos I thought I would wait and see
If my heater will get any hotter
or if I'm barking up the wrong tree
Twas my best of intentions
to cheer you up with this ditty
But the way things have gone lately
Its likely to make you more sh**ty!

I personally would set it to auto
cold feet and other things if you were not to
The guys that built your mercedes
were probably thinking he will need these
so we'll just make it handy
on the dash board it will be dandy
and maybe add a little decorum
and if he cant work it out
theres always the forum

This is the diesel heater that enables your car to heat up faster, on my 210 there was a switch in the ashtray compartment to switch it on or off. Economy is slightly better with it off but not enough to be worthwhile. I don't have the option to switch it off on my 211 and didn't know that the newer 203s did either.

But try and do it with some merit
cos under the seat there could be a ferret..

...and don't sit there with your hands in your pocket
or he'll be up your trouser leg like a rocket.

( I'm not too sure where this is going...?? )

Does the W211 have this option? When I got the car, I would start the car, unlock my gates and I could swear that when I got back in the car it was already warming up.

Now it is freezing cold when I get in the car, so probably something to do with me playing around with all the settings lol

Yes, it is automatic, I've not found an option to turn it off on the dash in any of the menus.

Face lifts had it as a switch besides the ash tray in the centre console, I don't know about pre-face lift.
