rust!
I'm new here and i was looking for an E-class but I've changed my mind (mpg better on C-class)
Good point Mutley - increasing your search to include C Class will get you a much wider choice. Bear in mind that earlier diesels (which will fit your budget) were indirect injection and were not turbocharged. They will therefore be less economical and much less powerful.
Having said that, low mileage C Class diesels do come along (older owners, "retirement cars", used gently) and can be a terrific buy. If you are not concerned about "speed away from the lights" they will get you there just as quickly and are quite frugal. It is just a more relaxed, dare I say "grown up" style of motoring.
Good luck on your quest - we look forward to hearing/seeing the outcome.
i was suprised how economical my '07 mondeo is in comparison to the e-class
37mpg combined for a 1.8 petrol mondeo
32mpg for an e320 diesel
43mpg for a c220
these are all combined quoted figures but i did 2,000 miles last month and the trip computer says 35.0 from reset
@alex - i think its a w210? (still not up on all the numbers yet)
year 2000 X reg
like i say these are the "quoted" figures
