Been a while since I posted as my beloved W124 hasnt moved from its barn for alomost a year now due to small gliches! Anyway I digress.

We are looking at buying The what I believe to be W211, its a 55 plate Mercedes E350 Avant, fully laiden with command and all refinements.

What is the general consensus on these particular models? what is there to watch out for if anything?

Any advice from owners of the model would be greatly appreciated

On that year it should all be good and very nice

As for Malcolm. The 350 engine should be spritely and in the S class can achieve around 28 mpg, so in an E class, perhaps a bit more.

But if you want economy, a diesel 320 will give you 50% more mpg!

Sis has that very car. No problems at all (apart from self inflicted ones). Yes the running costs are slightly more than the 320 but the lower purchase price and typically higher equipment levels offset that. If you don't do high miles a big petrol engine makes for sense than a diesel.

It is pre-face lift so should get a decent deal on it, not many with this engine on the forum so not aware of any issues with it.

The new V6 petrols are super smooth. I can squeeze out 36-37 mph from my 2.5 on a run. The other advantage is that they are single spark and the plugs are dead easy to get to (even the ones at the back).
