2002 ML 270 CDI in Black
Hi all, following on from advise given to me on here re buying an ML270CDi, today i committed to a purchase. Its a 2002 (02) in Black, unmarked bodywork, only 43,000 miles from new, 2 owners with full MBZ service history and all old MOT's to proove milage. Full sand coloured Leather interior, MBZ rubber over mats protecting the original carpet mats beneath, boot liner, Bose sound system, 2 x remote keys, basically faultless and drove really well. i agreed on £8,500.00 knocking the dealer down from £8,995.00.

Any / all comments welcome. Thanks a lot, Happy New Year, Colin.....

Congratulations

on your purchase. Sounds very nice and has been cherished.

I believe the 270 is a very useful engine in the ML - plenty torque but more likely to be fuel efficient than the larger engine.

I have found in the R Class that 4 matic enables you pretty much to ignore the snow, driven sensibly.

It will be good to get your impressions "in service".

Yes if I were to buy an ML the 270 would certainly be my engine of choice.

Our ML 270 has also been faultless in the snow. We gave it 4 new Avon Ranger 55 mud & snow 4 weeks ago which we were pleased with.

Sounds a fairish deal. Did you get any sort of warranty from the dealer?

Any pics? :)

Hi thanks for reply, yes here she is in all her glory.

Yes cant wait to actually get her, i take delivery on 7th Jan once she has been MOT'd, serviced and valeted. I am a keen forum partisipant with other vehicles i have owned in the past so look forward to giving feedback and contributions on the ML in due course. Thanks for your reply.

Thats good to know, wish i had her last few weeks as we were quite badly affected by snow and my other vehicle was just a rear 2wd which was interesting!! ;)

Well it was down mostly to the advice i had previously been given here on the forum that convinced me that the 270 was the best model to go for. I found there were cheaper and newer petrol models available like the 500 but i dont think i could have afforded to run one of those !! I think the residuals on those have taken a dip since fuel prices went through the roof !!

Nice car! I have a 2002 ML 270 also and its great! I have had it nearly 2 years which is about four times longer than anything else i ever had.
I have just finished adding Command to mine with a lot of help from Richard from Commandonline so i may keep it a little longer!

With regard to the Command installation, whats involved effort and cost wise?? Already thinking about tinkering with mine and adding Command sounds interesting..:)

I bought my ML270 CDI about a month or so ago and am really chuffed with it. Although the mileage was a bit higher than I wanted (134k on a 2003), the car had been very well looked after and had a MB service history to 100k.

I looked around for other colours than silver, tried a kind of bronze coloured one out but wasnt impressed - so ended up with stock silver metallic!

Black looks very neat!

Im just missing a boot load cover which im still hunting around for, but when i consider the extras I got I thought it was a small price to pay...(until I saw the prices on Fleabay!). Scappeis it is i think for the hunt!

Happy motoring! Id be interested to see what you get MPG on it...? (wish I had a trip computer fitted!)

My dad just replaced his e240 with a very nice ML270CDI, 52plate, 66k for £7k. He's chuffed to bits with it. They seem to be extremely good value now.
