Hello all,

My colleague at work here has an issue with his LHD W210 220CDI

When indicating only the right hand side comes on, regardless of which way the stalk goes. (So when indicating left it blinks right)

Flash is at normal speed.

Any idea what needs to be done to rectify this?

Thanks

Is this OUTSIDE blinking or INSIDE blinking or both?
What happens when the Hazard Warning switch is turned on?

Try flicking the Hazard Warning switch ON/OFF repeatedly.

Both in and out, hazards work as normal.
Only way to get the left side to work is to press the lever down slightly, so not full contact.
Can it be shorting to the other side somehow?

No light faults on the dash etc.

It all sounds very much like a component inside the stalk has failed, there are a lot of tiny springs and levers that control the indicator left/right operation, taking it apart to fix is not really doable so a replacement may be the only cure.

Can’t see any other reason for that fault other than a broken spring or a dislodged/loose lever causing the fault.

That proves it is the stalk that has failed, a common fault, it is a steering wheel off job and about £75

Thank you all, is it hard to get the wheel off?
I've not yet fathomed how to do it on my trusty old stead, let alone one of the modern jobs...
