C220 CDI 2001
Hi Guys.
I have a C220 CDI Auto, on a 2001.
Recently i have been coming up with numerous little issues.

Anyways, not so long ago i had a fuel pipe replaced which cost me about £28 (In the photo the prominant black ribbed pipe).

However i now suspect its the pipe i have cricled in red.

I have noticed a drip which falls from that onto the ribbed pipe.

Does anyone know the part number?
Also can you get it after market?

Could it explain my cold start issues - the car starts up, then dies quickly
after. Then i have to keep the ignition going for a short while before it stutters, starts up and churns out black smoke for a second.

Low pressure to high pressure pump line, can cause your starting fault, cheap from mb for the line, check the O rings first, could have been nicked last time it was refitted..........

That pipe you had replaced should have been the part circled in red also. When i purchaced my fuel line for the same car from the stealers i got the whole line. Costs around £50

To add another thought:

These pipes and the black plastic fittings on the ends go very brittle after a while, and can easily be damaged as a result. Then they weep.
The same applies to the 'black ribbed pipe' in your photo. The ribbing is only a protective cover, underneath which is the same plastic tubing as the one in the red circle.

Just my penn'orth.

Is that the reference to the pipe circled?
Or is that in reference to the startup issue (if this is the case where can i find it, I dont know engines too well but ill give it a go :D)

This is what i suspect the problem is. I think the pipe comes with a fitting attached. I am presuming that fitting is in some way damaged.

Yep - the pipes come from MB as an assembly, with the end fittings already attached.

A small tip if the fitting itself is leaking because of a worn or damaged 'O' ring:

Wind one turn of ptfe tape around the 'O' ring before clicking into place. It is an effective and permanent repair for such a problem.

Just my penn'orth.

Just to update the above post, new O rings are cheap as chips from mb.........

A little grease when fitting always helps......

its called a "clear plastic fuel pipe", but will have a specific MB part number.

best to just take the car to them and show the $tealer parts dept the pipe in situ and they will order it up.

Hey guys, a quick update.
I took the car to the garage, and got that and another pipe changed.

In all 3 pipes changed:
Fuel filter to distributor £24.50 (part) + £10 labour. (£35)
2 Others £125 (inc labour).

The dripping has now stopped, so no more fuel smell.
Also no patches under the car.
Fuel efficiency is back to normal (apparently i was losing about 10-20%).
Also the car now starts up perfectly first time around every morning.
