NO! Atf is not a good detergent at all and should not be added to engine oil! Adding a small amount (250ml to 50 litres of fuel) to diesel fuel should nor cause any damage, but in my opinion also will not do any good.

If you are buying your diesel from the forecourt there is more than enough detergent in it and you should not be adding more

ohh ok....

i saw a posting by someone (from MB Club UK forum) that he had used ATF to add to his diesel van in the fuel and engine sump and it gave him good results...that was why i was curious if it really was that good...

hmmmm....good question...i am not sure how the standard of diesel here compares to other parts of the world but i guess Singapore being a very transparent and good governed country,,,,it should be good quality....

Older Citroen Now :-(
Never heard of ATF being added to Diesel fuel...
BUT
I have certainly heard of standard Two Stroke oil being added in small quantities (200ml to a Tankful of Diesel)..
Some swear by it for adding lubricity (slipperyness to low sulphur Diesel fuel)..

If you are using well known fuels then you should not need anything adding.

Do not do it.

Several diesel drivers advocate a small amount of 2stroke oil can help; but only really in older non-common rail engines.

Diesel fuel /is/ oil so no point adding 2-stroke, it is not a BSA Bantam or an old lawn mower. That stuff is an upper cylinder lubricant to be added to petrol which has no lubrication properties, which a 2-stoke engine needs.

If you must, then add Redex Diesel to clean jets about twice a year if using dodgy diesel fuel.
