Hi Forum,

As the forum gets endless posts asking:

Where can I find my local Independent?

Where is my nearest main dealer?

Where can I find a part for my Mercedes? etc etc...

A NEW website has been developed by the MBO - to launch on the forum on Tuesday to answer these questions.

You can search via a postcode search for you local specialist in multiple categories.... Car Sales, Parts, Exhausts, Independent, etc etc..

National companies will also be listed.

The site also allows users to submit specialists that may not be on the list - to help built this website into the most up to date directory online for Mercedes-Benz specialists.

Have a great bank holiday weekend - AND BRING ON TUESDAY.:D

I have asked the question, but one I believe can be arranged quite easily, may take a few days to sort this out though.

Keep you posted.

Excellent job. Very well done.

I particularly like the wide range of categories and the 'distance' filter.

I'm sure the website will be of huge benefit to MB owners.

Thanks. :):)

Mark,

I am guessing one of the the reasons for the directory it to generate revenue from the advertisers. I also notice that there are a few highly skilled repairers in my area not listed. Can you let me know the costs for advertising and I will mention the website to some of the suppliers in my area and hopefully they will take up the offer.

Cheers
John

Hi John,

I knew it would not take long before new additions will need to be added. As I said, the more we can list the better it will be for everyone. Thanks.

Will email you in reference to my details for these companies.
Thanks

I cannot check too far as the max area is 50 miles, they are all here where I am but no way of checking other areas without a post code

Might be better to put "town" as an option rather than postcode. This would be more flexible and allow one to find a garage when one is travelling in an area where postcodes are not known.

Glad we have got all your specialists in your area listed.

Its maximum search is 50 miles due to finding your local specialist.

Thanks

^ good idea is that Mike:cool:

I guess the post code entry allows the site to locate the nearest facility to ones own domicile and not intended as a 'nation wide' search.

I agree Mike, it would be nice to search by town. Trouble is the back end system is controlled by a postcode search program. I have however asked to see if this could be an additional option.

When you search via postcode the town / city location will show with telephone numbers.

Thanks

The main point is they are all there for the best part, so what we can do if a member asks is to direct them to the specialist directory and they can then ask about outlets shown in their area. :D

Good start and the Post Code search facility with choice of radius is a good way to go. For remote areas, 50 miles may not yield much though.

As a working document it will no doubt be altered as time goes by, both with additions and deletions.

Do you have any means of knowing how many hits you get?

Please direct them to the site - then can find local specialist by postcode search. Thanks

I guess the search by town could be quite an easy addon by just searching the DB, but there would be no distance calculations.

I do think the addition of adding search by location would be quite useful.

Will find out, and expect your right no distance calculations.
