There is a leak in the radiator from the hose connecting the top of the radiator to the filler tank. Is there a seal I can get to repair this? I used some radiator repair fluid the other day and it has improved it but not fully sealed it.
Thanks for any help...

The elbow is removable, it pushes in and is retained by 3 tangs which are accessible through the top hose fitting (the specific MB instructions show a ring spanner being used to compress the tangs IIRC allowing it to be pulled out without resorting to brute force and ignorance). The seal is made with an O-ring on the elbow. Unless you've got a big box of assorted O-rings i'd just buy a new elbow personally (i had to as sometime before i bought mine it'd been broken and bodged back with silicon) as 1, they're dirt cheap and 2, being plastic it might be the tangs have gotten 'tired' as well as the O-ring

Part number a0005000894 google will get you pics, £2.45 in 2009

As hotrodder buy a new one, they often get broken, and the pieces get left in

Replaced the part and still the ****** thing broke and sunk to the bottom of the radiatior. I'm not happy about bits being in there (it's quite a large bit) so will take the radiator out and try to flush the darn thing out. (i tried flushing the radiator in situ but the piece is too big to come out the bottom...

Leave it it can do no harm, it will just stay where it is, I have only ever done two of these where bits are left in and there was never any come back

By the time I saw yor message the radioator was out. Got the blasted bits of plastic out and back together again. Took the opportunity to blast the radiator with compressed air to get out all the bugs and leaves.

I lost a bit of power steering fluid ... in the past on my 190 I used ATF but now it looks like it should be power steering fluid. Will any one do?

The power-steering fluid is covered by MB spec 345.0.
See

for models covered.

tode, I might be being a it dim here but I cant see the W124 on that page. I can see reference to it under 231.1, referencing 236.3.

236.3 seems to give the same MB number (000 989 88 03) as the W124 worksheet 46-4080.

Is this correct or has the specification changed ... or am I just a little dim?

No there's no mention of the 124 on that sheet, but then there's no specific mention of it on the 231.1 either.
If the 124 worksheet gives the MB ref for the oil, then it's probably best to use that.

MB 236.3 Lenkgetriebeöl A 000 989 88 03 is the correct number but may have been replaced by something newer but will be compatible

Are you referring to the fluid loss from the two metal pipes you disconnected from the RAD ?

If so, it is automatic gearbox fluid, not steering fluid.
