Can anyone tell me what the option above actually is?. Its in the vin decode I've got and I cant find it anywhere in the manual. Might it be the Auto setting for the lights?.

Sounds like the "adaptive highbeam assist". If so, switches automatically between high and dipped. Works well on major roads.

So that would detect a car coming in the opposte directon and dip the headlights?.Would you have to have the lights on auto for that to work?.

Yes, lights on Auto. Then make sure that the combination switch (stalk) is on full-beam: the car will then switch automatically between full & dipped.

If you want to stay in dipped, then select dipped on combo stalk.

It works well, if anything it switches to dipped too often (errs on the side of safety). Will sometimes switch to dipped when it "sees" a reflective object - road sign or reflectors at road-junctions.

Thanks for the info Tode.As my post above says I'd love to have that but I cant really see someone having that fitted as a upgrade in my car which by some standards is quite a basic spec (plenty for me though).Ah well I will give it a try at the next chance I get.

I can't think what else a "Headlight assistant" would be.

Are you sure about your "Code 011" ?

The big problem in knowing what you have got is that once an extra like this becomes standard, they no longer come up on a code like 011, so I have these lights but no code as they are standard in mine

Also the VIN options move on over time, so 011 might have been something else and it's being reused.

I very much doubt headlamp assistant was available 12 years ago on a 210

Its actually the CLS (219) I'm asking about which as I say is a 2006 model. Headlamp assistant was to be available 2009 so I am a little confused.

Just to be clear, when I put the lights to auto and then select full beam with the stalk. The blue "full beam" indicator will show, then if somethng comes in the other direction the headlights will go to dipped and the blue indicator goes off?.

If the car coming the other way throws rotten eggs at you, then you will know that it does not work :D

My car was introduced in mid 06 and it was standard on that, the same as todes car

2006 so its possible it is that. Confusing that the article stated it was being introduced in 2009. Oh well I will give it a try and duck those eggs if thrown.:)

There might have been other things added over the basic 011 code in 2009
