E300 diesel estate 1995 what do I look for

I looked at a 1995 e300 d today with 124000 mls , it drove great , bit tatty inside needs good valet, drivers window did not go down , a we bit of rust on front wheel arch but looked sound in below , any good tips on what else to look out for. ( Hope this is posted in right place ).. Ps is this year model simple to work at compared to the newer models........

Look for rust under the car, get them to put it up on the ramps. May save you problems later. Hope this helps

hi, had three of them great cars go for it dont worry about the mileage its only just run in, as for the window common fault on that model the window mechanism have proberly got 2 or 3 teeth missing, try pushing the window down by hand until it stops then push the button and it will work , you can get one on ebay and its a easy fix , good luck and enjoy

Rust around the jacking points especially if it has plastics sill trims and the rear subframe front mountings.

Simple enough to mend in the drive way, avoid too much electronics.

If you buy it and need a replacement driver's window mech let me know.

As above - rusty wings (cosmetic only) rusty jacking points (fix).

Rear suspension spheres go, search for the how to on here. Check the level of the hydraulic fluid reservoir on the NS of the engine bay, and put a level marker on it.

Glow plugs are a pain to change as you have to remove the exhaust manifold. Starters are easy to change. Slave brake cylinder is a pain.

Check the fuses - if there are electrical issues change them and check the contacts - they are the bullet type. I had dodgy lights cured simply by changing old fuses.

The ignition locks are suspect, so it may already have a new key. Not hard to get out if you have the tool (I made one).

They go well - I've done 30k in my 88 250TD.

Simon I think I need drivers side window mech when I push the window down about 2 inches the switch takes it on down and back up again but just clicks about 2 inches from the top , what part have you got I need. Thanks

You are right about window works fine when I push it down a we bit , but only puts it back up to near the top then clicks , what exactly is the part I need.
