Hi all

After my recent outing on here, the guys were really helpful so I thought it best to ask here...

I recently bought these Xenon bulbs from ebay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330678520444?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

I am wanting to have all the lights as xenons if possible.

Can I install them myself? Is there anything extra that I need to buy extra? The Car hasn't had any changes to the lighting wiring - its all stock.

Car is W211 E270 Cdi...

oh dear

Have i totally messed up here?

In the description of the product it says they are Xenon bulbs?

"Filled with Xenon gas and complete with a blue filter, these bulbs will produce a great quantity of light, yet with no additional power consumption."

Thats what it says there....

hmm

Very misleading from the ebay seller... Most people would buy those on that premise alone!

Ok, so I need auto self leveling - I dont think my e class does that.

Is there an alternative bulb I can buy which will produce a more light and can be a straight replacement? The current bulbs Im not too happy with

Not your fault.

"Xenons" are High Ignition Discharge lamp. All those are is replacement bulbs giving a blue tint to make them seem brighter. If your car does not have Xenons, you can't just put these bulbs in and expect Xenon results.

You would have to have auto self leveling and washers for them...to pass the MOT.

These are Xenons:

You are confusing Xenon filled incandescent lamps/bulbs with HID (High Intensity Discharge ) lamps. ;);)

Hi,
The lamps you have bought should just be a direct swap for your existing lamps.
The O/P has bought Xenons (according to the advert) they are normal incandesant lamps but with Xenon gas inside them, halogen lamps have, you guessed it Halogen gas in them.
The gas in the lamp whether it be Xenon or Halogen allows the element to "burn" brighter, than in a normal vacuum like a normal household lamp (not energy saving type of course).

Caveot Emptor I'm afraid
I've never used them, but I've heard good results from others http://www.phoenixautobulbs.co.uk/s...lus-car-bulbs/?ls=googleppc&track=osramnbplus

I've just bought a pair of H1s which were advertised as xenon. I knew they wouldn't be but all I wanted was them to be "whiter" so they matched the factory xenon headlamps. And this they did.

I will now purchase H7s for the main beam and LED 229s for the sidelamps.
