I've had the MB insured with Saga for some years now, and each year the renewal comes with a price match guarantee - find a cheaper "like for like" quote and they'll beat it by at least £1.

So, near renewal time each year I try the 3 main comparison sites. In past years the difference has been only £30ish, but Saga have beaten the quote each time.

This year they wanted £352, Axa quoted £269 - so Saga have renewed for £268:lol::lol::lol:

So - come renewal time, shop around!!

On that scenario Saga do not deserve the business but they know for the sake of £1 most people cannot be bothered to change insurers.

Saga will not insure me ever, not even when I had the V70R only, yet no claims in 45 years

Perhaps the battering my FIL gave their MD for gradually increasing his home insurance to £800 when it was available in multiple places for £200 has worked!

It took me about 1/2 hour to go through the 3 main comparison sites, and I ended up staying with an insurer I've been happy with - and saving myself £84 in the process.

I fully understand..... but Axa deserve the business not Saga......Saga did not give you their best price first time and did not ''work'' for the business.
Any lazy idiot can make an arbitrary offer with the caveat that they will undercut any other like for like price by £1......it is no way to conduct a business and as such they do not deserve to keep the business......as I said they rely on a large percentage of their customers playing their game because it is simply easier not to change insurers.

It would be something of a shambles if all businesses and insurers issued such a ''price promise''.

I have to agree with Mic, An insurance company should try and find the best quote for a customer, however this seem's to me as tho Saga are letting the customers do the searching and then giving you £1 for 1/2 hours work.

As long as you are happy then that is the main thing:D

I don't like SAGA, didn't come any where near for house insurance, which pleased me as I would have had to grit my teeth before giving them business:lol:

but would it? id be tempted to get a few with such a price promise and play them of against each other just to keep bringing the price down!

Someone has to do the risk assessment and incur the investment that involves and draw the line in the sand.

true, but anything that gets them to bring prices down and fight for your business is a good thing, surely?
