I want to polish up the quad chrome tips on my cl55k.

Anyone have any ideas on the best way to do this without scratching the chrome.

My Alpina was easy as it was stainless steel, i just got some really fine sand paper and sanded the hell out of it till it was shinney again

However i doubt i can do this on the AMG.

Any suggestions?

I've read vinger is meant to work.

One of the best is sold in tube, servisol or something like that, it was the only thing that would polish my old RR radiator

Anyone know the real name, its German

my old boss used to buy it by the box full (about 30-40 tubes) at a time, he was an American car fanatic so lots of chrome everywhere. This stuff works a treat and with some elbow grease and a bit of patients will have your tips looking like new before you know it.

I have the AMG chrome exhaust tips and have found that Autosol is the answer.

M6 Cab - prior to that, SL63 AMG, A-M V8 Vantage, SL55, SL500 and many more
failing that, try some "OO" extra fine grade wire wool - used for polishing furniture, so very gentle - got the black baked on gunge off the inners of the amg pipes on mine

There's also some stuff called "Peek" which comes highly recommended on the detailing forums. Got a tube of it in my detailing chest, but never actually used it.

Must admit, shiny tips make all the difference :)

Mr Muscle oven cleaner first to soften the muck massage it in with a paint brush then rinse off, reapply if not clean enough to polish otherwise anything in the muck could scratch the chrome finish.

all depends how bad your tips are, i used a combination of "shiny sinks", and Autoglym metal polish (in the tube), some wet n dry and for the insides i used a a number of brass wire drill attachments
this was the result

still needs more polishing to smooth it out but they came out ok!

at some point they will need re-chroming as the chrome is cracking.

I would imagine that the expansion rates crack the chrome on the tight curves
