When I first got my 203 nearly 4 years back now, I noticed the head had snapped off the red radiator drain plug.....I found the head in the under tray when I removed it. I must have had the replacement plug for getting on 2 years now!

Anyhow, yesterday I was giving the car a service and needed to change the coolant. So naturally tackled it.

All you need to do if this happens to you, is get a soldering iron and melt a slot to fit a flat headed screw driver in and you will be able to unscrew it.

Very good tip :D:D, soldering irons are so useful for doing other jobs with plastic

I went to clean the MAF the other day.

Despite having most tools, I didn't have one for the torx screws which had a prong in the middle.

MB are making every attempt to thwart the home mechanic from servicing their own cars, well not quite.

10 mins with a trusty hacksaw and two perfect (kinda ;)) flat head screws!

The prong in the middle is a security torx, and many sockets come with the holes in these days, the worst screws are the do up only

It's an odd thing to have security bolts on?

I just can't see the casual tea leaf thinking, "'ello, that's look a tasty MAF, I'll have that"

Is it maybe, anti tamper to stop us changing it, bit like the sealed for life gearboxes?

The answer to that is,, if you can get the sensor bit on its own, it will cost £70, if you buy it with the plastic pipe that its screwed in then £180, that make it the most expensive bit of plastic tube in the world
