Well as I've decided to keep the car for a few more years it goes in tomorrow for all four wings, doors, tailgate and roof panel to be resprayed. The wheel arches will be sand blasted to remove rust, there is no rot as i've diligently touched the arches up with Hammerite as and when required. Incidentally the Hammerite smoothrite silver paint is almost a perfect match for Brilliant Silver (MB744) paint.

Should get it back beginning of next week so will post results. The bodyshop is local to me and comes recommended so fingers crossed.

That what I used in my wheel arch mod in the DIY section,,, you should do it when it comes back and the wings will not rust again, yes a near on perfect match

£1500, I really like the car and it has all the extras I want so i've decided to invest in it with a view to keep it for at least another 3-5 years.

I've toyed with the idea of buying a 212 350CDi, about 3 years old, but the early 231 bhp model doesn't interest me and i would want the 265bhp version which is more £££. The first year's depreciation would be twice as much as i'm paying out for this work so financially it makes sense as it's only done 80K miles.

Also gives me time to see how the reliability of the 212 works out re long term ownership???

That sounds quite reasonable. I was expecting nearer £2,000

The outfit I'm using are no nonsense, your speaking to the guys who will be doing the job types and do work for a local car restorer. I'll take my camera with the car and see if they will photo the stages.

Difficult to find a bodywork shop not tied into the insurance market nowadays and you then have to suffer their layers of admin. which i'm not keen on with this type of work.

Lets face it the 210 is a very nice motor car in all respects, its very well appointed and if you know the car it must be worth doing,,you have zero depreciation.
