Caught a curb this evening which has caused a dent in the wheel, cracked 'rim' bit and a split tyre. Anyone know any mobile people in Essex that might be able to help?

I know that I will need a new tyre but am hoping to be able to save the wheel; 15" 2005 A-Class Elegance.

If it is cracked it needs specialist treatment, but if just grazed then a mobile can tidy it up.

Dont feel too bad about it most of us will do this at some point in life better if you cold put a picture up

If its cracked you might source a replacement on Ebay easier.

Looked on eBay and nothing the same... Just put on new tyres on the front so don't really want to start replacing all the wheels..

Thinking that I need a wheel specialist just to check that it's still round as the centre cap has popped out too :(

Called into Maldon CarBody today (http://www.maldon-carbody.co.uk/) today and they looked at the wheel and said it looked OK. They rang a local tyre fitter and they got me a good price on a tyre and checked the wheel. All OK :) So, although I am a tyre 'down' the wheel is OK. I've been advised that I can leave it or for cosmetic reasons, can have it repaired. Just right now, it will stay as it is as I am going to contact the council; I know that it was my poor driving that caused the damage but the curb still needs to be fixed.

Will keep an eye out on eBay for another wheel I thin. Thank you all for your help.

Oh yeah! Cut a corner and the back N/S wheel caught the edge of the curb in between a missing curb stone! Did go bang

Hmmm - if the missing kerb stone had been there would it have had the same result ?

I'm not a fan of compensation culture by any means, but if you feel that the people responsible for the kerbs are in any way responsible for the damage to your wheel/tyre it may be worth a quick letter to them.

If you're going to get the wheel repaired because it's dangerous not to, then keep the receipts and send them in with your letter.

Good luck !
