OK - so bear with me for being a bit blonde!! - Having realised that however hard I try I cannot fit anybody in the back of my Jag XK8 - unless they are under 4 years old! Have today looked at a 53 CLK320 convertible with circa 50k on the clock - need advice as to anything in particular I should be looking for? Thank you in anticipation

Rust, as that time its in the crossover year for galvanising, check around all 4 arches, bottom of the doors, underneath the rubbers etc,

Also, ensure that the roof goes up and down smoothly with no issues, a good solid engine on that car. Im not sure if you may have a valeo radiator in that one, no doubt somebody else will confirm that.

Just be aware the CLK rear is a tight squeeze for adults or large teenagers ..... And it is just 2 rear seats....not 3 as some think... ...

The late 2004 CLK's onwards have better rust protection and the dreaded Valeo radiator problem had been addressed.

You honestly need to check out the Valeo rad on a 53 car.

(As I understand it, having owned a late 2004, the cooler for the auto transmission is integral with the main radiator and on the cars up to late 2004 the cooler can rupture/crack and allow radiator coolant into the auto box - mega££££££).

Depends on budget but the facelift CLK from 2005 has many improvements over the early W209.

I think most MB models are just four passengers, not just the CLK range

E class, C -class, A class, B class and S class (and GL, ML etc) are all 3 passengers seats at the back.

CLK, CLS are 2 seats at the back.

Was just going to say my C-class has 3.... Why did you think there was only 2 Miffy?
