Thinking of buying a CLS with 109k on clock

Lost my old E class to an accident in July. Picked up a CLS with 70k on the clock but after problems with turbo charger and ABS, the Dealer has agreed to take it it back and refund in full.

I now really like the CLS and with my 'fussy' spec, have found one near to home, but with 109k on clock. It's got FSH etc, and whilst I know Mercs can go on for mile after mile, I'm stalling because maybe 109k is a bit too high ?

I do around 24k pa, so would plan to have the car 2yrs instead of the 3yrs with the prev one, so providing the cars been looked after, I'm curious what would others do in my situation ?

Thanks,

So 50k in 2 years,,,if the car has been well looked after it should not be any problem, lots of 219's on here, and we do not get that many turbo failures.

Thanks. Was hoping you'd say something like that !

On the advice of my local specialist I went for high miles / young car over low miles / older car in order to meet my budget, not disappointed with my 2007 E320 CDI although I did have an early expense having to replace the glow plugs and associated ECU. As long as the car has FSH and looks to be well looked after 100k + shouldn't put you off, it's probably better as the car is likely to have been driven on motorways and always properly warmed up!

Thanks. My local Merc specialist always reckons that too many 'under-drive' their Merc !

I had a W219 E320CDI when I sold it ....it had covered 80k only niggling probs nothing major, ive never heard of a Turbo failure on the V6 Diesel before.....I loved that engine its sweet as a nut and economical, dont worry about the mileage if its been well serviced it will go on forever, and if it does go wrong then there are loads of good Indies on here to help go for it.

I bought a 94k mileage 2009 at the end of Sept - full service history (which is not hard as it was only just over 3 years old) but its back in the garage for its inlet manifold breaking up which has taken the turbo out.

It appeared to drive fine except for the odd limp mode when accelerating.

I'd recommend you try a few hard accelerations with it and see if you get a noticeable stutter - like flicking a light switch off and on quickly - with it then going into limp mode, but not always getting limp mode. Look for either of the symptoms - the stutter or limp mode or both!

I've heard this fault before. The other one is the gunked manifold causes the linkage between the swirl flap and it's motor to stick.

A manifold can be cleaned as a preventative maintaince measure and such faults avoided but the turbo seals do leak

If you excuse the innuendo, I've experienced limp mode with my last one, so whenever I do test drive one, I will get it to 'kick down' a few times !
