Any oil that meets spec 229.1 or higher like 229.3

O 40 or 5 40 is the most common it comes in fully synthetic and Semi synthetic, fully is the dearest and the better one, many use the half magnatec

i use the semi synthetic magnatec, but thought that the 500V8 would have needed a higher spec oil than mine. or are the higher oil specs an age thing? ie only 229.1 was available until a certain year?

That was the only oil around back then Pete, still the same today, they all use the same one apart from the low ash diesels
