Currently own a CLK V6 Diesel Sport, love it but thinking I'd like to climb the spec ladder.
Thinking of buying a CLK Cabriolet 350 Sport, with Xenons.
We wanted a cabrio before we bought the Coupe, but Benz didn't do Cabrio & Diesel.
We now want Xenons and this seems an uneconomical retrofit.
The 350 doesn't look far off the MPG of the diesel.
I wonder if the petrol is as nice to drive as the diesel. I'm ex Honda Vtec engines and since having the V6 diesel, loved having full power without appearing to be driving like an idiot.
Diesel has 100k on it now, have seen cabrio's with less than 30k. Am thinking I can do this change for less than £10k? Am thinking it could also make economical sense in terms of maintenance for the next three years

Opinions?

Far be it for me to dissuade you from changing your car but this doesn't make sense as a reason....unless you really think it's going to cost more then £10k in maintenance\repairs for your current car over the next 3 years :D

I know what you really meant and I'll also try to think of any reason to persuade myself I need a new one. :D

Yea! Looking for a black SL55 with Tan, there's some with extra nice wheels (similar to 911 turbo wheels) - is this just an option or is it a different trim level?
Finally, from a dealer for Exceptional warranty experiences in the past.

Turbine wheels do look so nice but not so easy to clean

I'm talking myself out of this and you have just put another nail in the coffin.
Wanted a SL55 AMG. Didn't realise I would have to say bye bye to the 7G!
The 7G is the highlight of the CLK for me.
No wonder MPG isn't good. It seems Porsche have the upper hand with gearboxes (we were debating the 55 or a 911).
so, I then looked at the SL500 and SL350 (06+) I would get the 7G but, no quad exhausts and nice wheels - started shopping for Genuine wheels...
Now thinking... I'm trading my lovely spec CLK for a car that still needs pimping.
Thinking I might pimp my CLK instead and save probs 15k

Looking at some AMG VI wheels CLS size on the rear.
Maybe Quad tips, but concerned about diesel smoke...

Thinking of putting it into Benz for a gearbox & diff oil change. Anything else I should be looking at, at 100k?

At least I know the last 50k was all motorway!
