I haven't driven my SL a lot for the past one month, is it normal for SL to have condensation on the inside of the front windscreen then? Is there any solution to this?
If there is condensation inside then there must be moisture getting in.
Are the carpets dry? The boot dry?
Does the SL close it's vents when shut down? If not damp air will make it's way inside.
Is it parked outside or in a garage?
You must remove the rear section of the near side wheel arch liner and clean out the V shaped spout that drain the heater box, cut the flaps off the spout and leave it open.
It is parked on my drive,
carpets and boot bone dry,
I think the vents stay open...
If it clears as soon as the sun gets on it I wouldn't worry too much. Could just be moisture in the air?
I am completely useless at diy, could you elaborate please?
The heater box has a drain, if this drain is blocked the water can stay in the box and even spill out into the car with horrible consequences. you could also have wet leaves in the air intake drains in front of the screens., damp rises through the demist vents making the screen mist up. Leaves are blowing around at this time of the year and they cause some problems.
Many member have had this problem on the 230 and cutting off that spout is the recommended thing.
It can be done by jacking the near side front and just removing the lower wheel arch liner bolts and you can pull the line in enough to be able to get to the water drain spout
On my SL the carpet was compleatly dry but when I checked underneath the passenger side there was 3 inches of water ! So check under the carpet quick ! I've dried mine out and all seams ok, fingers crossed
Also follow Televisions post on repairs on the rear window seal, well worth doing and will seal the boot area so no more damp in there
The face lift does have self adhesive rubbers, but the ones at the bottom of the C pillars need to be checked, for water runs down the inside of the rubber and under the metal up into the inside of the rubber, then into the boot often going down the cable to the PSE pump
Is this car playing with my feelings?
