Hi Guys

If I replace my steering wheel on my CLK 350 (2006) with NO paddles for a new AMG wheel WITH paddles and wiring can you just plug in to work ? I have the 7speed auto box.

Does anyone know if this is an easy or worthwhile job to make paddles work

Any help appreciated

Andy

On some cars the wiring is there with a socket around the center console it will need a short harness if I remember correctly,, do a search and a few have done this. the clock spring may have to be changed

No wiring around the wheel, it goes in via the clock spring, this is the contacts between the wheels and the column

Peter may remember the actual post where the member did it

Not a straight swop. You may need a small control module inside the wheel itself. If the car was offered with paddles as an option the. The clock spring may be compatible if not doubtful.
There will be a need for deep coding to enable the paddles to control the TCM. The only people I know who have done this successfully (on a 5G box) are Comand.co.uk. Recommend you drop them an email before committing.
