2007 CLS 320CDI Kleemann
Hi, been here a short while but never formally introduced myself.

Ex-pat living in southern Sweden. Have a 2007 CLS CDI 320. Considered a 55 AMG as they are quite cheap here (relatively speaking), but as I average 30.000km a year, the fuel costs would kill me!

Previously owned a W208 CLK, but having two kids meant that 4 doors were a necessity. I absolutely adore the CLS. I get positive comments almost on a daily basis. Most people think it´s brand new!

It was totally stock at purchase, but I have been slowly modding - though I always try to be restrained and stay away from being too aftermarket. So...the mods.

Full AMG spolier pack
Original AMG quad pipe system
AMG 19" staggered wheels
Eibach lowering springs
2009 facelift LED rear light clusters
2009 facelift wing mirrors
2012 AMG look single fin grille (soon to be replaced)
Kleeman KD performance module
2009 AMG sport steering wheel with paddle shift
Dension Gateway 500 iPod interface

On the way -
2009 facelift 2 fin grille
2009 facelift white instrument dials (but not the whole white binnacle background - prefer white on black look)

To be done -
Light wood trim to be replaced with Piano Black finish
Paddle shift needs to be initialized.

...and then I should be done!

Hello and welcome, you have been busy :D:D I see you want the black wood, well I got some walnut from a breaker and sprayed it black then finished off with 1 pack plastic coating as seen here, I did the steering wheel as well. You could not tell it was not a factory finish.

I lived in Jönköping for some 15 years, and we have a mod here thast lives just outside Malmö

Looks great - I bet you get a lot of satisfaction from the mods.

Cheers

Looks great.

I'll be interested to hear if the facelift grill slots in ok. I have read mixed reports about whether or not these fit correctly on pre-facelift cars.

From the outside the logic is sound, but it was either the AMG55 or the diesel for me. I plan on keeping the car for at least 5 years, and with petrol 15% more expensive where I fill up, and taking my yearly mileage into consideration, the numbers simply didn´t add up. I would already have spent more on running costs than I have on mods.
I got a great bargain on mine and at under 30K miles it was a bit of a find. Apart from no airmatic, it´s fully specced.

Do I miss not having an AMG? 10% of the time yeah, but as much as I love my cars, I have other pastimes that need financing too!

Yeh, it was only a tongue in cheek comment by me. The satisfaction you must get from modding it to such a high standard is I'm sure "priceless".Great job so far keep the pictures coming.:)

Older Citroen Now :-(
I have a feeling that one day I will be looking at a CLS and I too will be looking at the same engine as yours..
The V6 is one Diesel that REALLY is refined and easily lives up to the Mercedes Brand..
Your 7G box will be a later one and so it should have no issues.. (Not that my 2004 or late 2007 7G boxes had any issues).

Remember to have the ATF and Filter changed at 40,000 miles (or the equivelant KM).

Really nice car.

Simon, remember all the problems I had with my OM642 engine...

You seemed to have problems with the whole car

It fits - well, sort of! Needed a couple self tapping screws to fasten the bottom edge as the clasps were not compatible - and I think the angled ends of the 2 bars are a little off. But on the whole I´m satisfied.

Excellent work - I might be tempted to do this mod as someone has stolen the bottom chrome bit from my current (pre-facelift) grill.

Interesting I also went from CLK (208) to CLS. Used to get lots of positive comments about the CLK from random passers-by but rarely receive compliments/discussion on the CLS! Mine does look slightly drug-dealery with big AMG turbine wheels so maybe people are just too scared to say anything

clk208 - a little extra info (minor details) if you decide to go through with the change. After looking through literally 100´s of images of facelifted CLS´s, I think I finally got a handle on the available colour options for the grille.

Non AMG cars have silver mesh behind the 2 horizontal fins.
Dark coloured AMG´s have black mesh and black trailing edges on the fins.
Light coloured AMG´s have black mesh and silver trailing edges on the fins.

I have been wrong before though!

Genius - thanks.

I noticed a new style of aftermarket grill on ebay too that looks a bit trendier than the standard single fin aftermarket grill that has been out for a while.

I'm not normally a fan of aftermarket retrofits in very visible areas but I kind of like this, possibly more than the standard grills

What do the panel think?!
