w124 e200 estate and e300d estate
Hello all,
I have been offered a set of winter tyres that are already fitted on 2001 c-class steel wheels. The tyres are the correct size for my 1995 w124 at 196/65/R15, but I am not sure if the steel wheel rims will fit my axles or have the correct bolt pattern?
Thanks in advance,
Christian

They will fit the hub Ok and the ET is only a little out,it depends on the tyre size

usa forum info

i have just found a thread on a usa forum, that states w202 rims will not fit on a w124, because that brake calipers foul. although it did not explain if this problem was alloys or steels. can anyone confirm this?

But since you have 15" rims already this is unlikely to be a problem.

Try one on the front, if they don't collide with the calliper and there is clearance to the suspension strut they will be OK.

True, and as the 202 wheels will have a lower ET there will be more clearance by about 5 mm on average

W124 Estate cars use special "T-Wheels" which are twice as thick - and twice as heavy - as standard steels

Which ever has fuel in it!!!
I fitted 202 steel wheels to my 1988 124 with no trouble the only thing is you what be able to use the early wheel trims as they don't fit the design of the wheel. I didn't mind using the later trim as I had already updated most of the light s and mouldings anyway.

And they won't fit on a 124 saloon, they clang the struts at the front and only just miss the inner arch on the rear.

2009 c-class AMG Sport Estate

Gents.

please forgive me as i'm new to this. After 10 years of company car driving, axed by our new CFO, I'm now on a car allowance and have bought a 2009 c200 cdi AMG Sport Estate with 12,000 on the clock, she drives like a dream. Big issue is i live in Aberdeenshire and need winter tyres for her. My previous car was a 2008 Mondeo Estate which had 235x18s and were a complete pain due to the number of pothole punctures. for winter I have a set of 205/55x16 steels (Mondeo fitment) with Vredestein Icetracs on the front and Snowtracs on the back, without which the Mondeo was absolutely useless. I'm looking for a set of steel rims to take the tyres but hear that the AMG models may not take the 16" steel rims, any advice would be gratefully received.

The Vredesteins transformed a sledge into a packed snow b-road weapon that would outgun range rovers and subarus, great fun.

Regards

I do not think that 16" will clear the callipers

Your AMG is a body kit special. A true, high performance AMG will have very big brakes...and 16s would not fit. The C Class can takes 16s...but check physically before purchase.

They might..16s can be specified for some 204s.

I see what you mean, not a true AMG, just the body kit, I do not have any estate books, only the saloon

The 204 Sport has larger calipers on the front which will foul with the 16 steel rims which limits your options to either buying a set of 17 inch alloys to take winter tyres or switching your tyres twice yearly. Check your handbook for MB's recommendation for your car.
