Can anyone help me with this problem. When I press the quick clear button to direct hot air to the defroster flaps on my front screen I can hear the blower working but the flaps do not open. My MB mechanic plugged in his diagnostic tool and it came up with no faults showing. Any ideas?

Do you feel air blowing onto the screen and side windows?

Hi Whitenemisis

Nothing from the vents at the bottom of the screen. I get plenty of hot air from the centredash top vent and the face vents but nothing by using the quick clear button.

Thanks for that. Does that mean the dash etc all has to come out or can they be accessed from under the bonnet?

Did he check flap positions and travel values in climate control?

Thank you Alex. To be frank I am not sure as he did check many things. His diagnostic tool originally showed two faults so he did the two button reset (Screen/recirc) and these disappeared but still no air to the screen. No faults showing on diagnostic tool. My mechanic is Brian at Chapel Works Ufford Near Woodbridge who has looked after both my Mercs since they came out of warranty.

With Star diagnostic you can at least check the travel and end stop positions of screen flaps, this would help push diagnosis forward.

What were the 2x faults showing?
