I quite fancy stripping down a keyless go handle to see if the components can be fixed, rather than shelling out £200 or so for a replacement.

Does anyone have a non working keyless handle I can have a go at ? I'm quite happy to pay postage.

To my mind, if it's a simple case of water ingress causing an issue, that may be able to be fixed with some desoldering, cleaning and reassembly.

Mind you, not having stripped one down I may be talking pants, but it would be an interesting exercise !

Any car will do.

Cheers

Jonny

Fab ! More the merrier :)

I'll PM you both with my address and if you can let me know what you want for postage.

I will of course do a full photographic strip down so that we can all share in the findings.

Cheers

I have a feeling that the exercise is futile.

Especially as Malcolm has them lying around ....

There are lots of things that I initially thought were futile, however, a few quiet hours in the workshop and some patience often yields surprising results !

I'll be the first to admit defeat however if it's not viable.

I haven't been able to find anything in detail on t'net and I'm sure there are plenty of people who would be interesting in seeing how it all works.

Cheers

Well I have to say - that's why this forum works so well !

I was going to go through all the stages of identifying the problem and working out how to fix it and now thanks to Malcolm and Cole I shall be able to test it on some U/S examples and report my findings back.

Won't happen over night, but keep your mincers peeled and I'll keep you all informed.

Cheers

And I am hoping that I have not thrown the ones that I have away, I will have to go through a large box destined for the tip:(

Thanks Malcolm - don't worry too much if you can't find them, they're just for practice, so hopefully Cole will come through with the goods.

I was sinking under the part here that I have been examining, I am sure they are in the box to go. They have done away with the buttons on the newer cars

Anyone spot a defunct keyless handle on their travels ? any model is fine, as long as it's not the new buttonless stylee :)
