Hi All,

The REAR door RHS (drivers side) cannot be opened from inside the car, i thought at first child lock however w211 do not have child locks...

After searching the net i viewed the same problem raised on other forums on same year W211 (2004) model, same side....stating possible cause inner door handle cable detachment?

Any comments appreciated...

Thanks.
DSB.

Thanks Malc...my local indie would remove it...do you think the cause would be possible cable detachment?

I have a switch in 'normal' place where child lock switch normally is, edge of the door near the lock lid...

edit: in that last post, someone states he has them also... only I have it above the lid

Thanks for info...i found this on net

Rear child-proof locks
The child-proof locks on the rear doors enable you to secure each door individually. If a door has been secured:

you will not be able to open it from the inside

you will be able to open it from the outside, provided the vehicle is not locked (the locking knobs in the doors are up)

so where exactly is this switch, does it push in? push up? anyone got a pic or illustration?

Thanks

If you open the door is not the switch in the end of the door, a little lever that slides up or down

Hi all,

Thanks for all your comments...yep found the switch, unfortunately it has not solved the issue...the inner door handle is very loose when you pull it (no tension), i strongly suspect cable detached / broken, needs door case off which will be done next time at local indie, will let you know update!

Cheers,
David.

ok, does sound like the handle cable mate.

door card is easily removed, take out the ashtray first and unplug the connectors esp the ribbon cable one before you start as they easily rip off and its £40ish for a new ribbon cable loom. the rest is fairly straightforward.

Update:-

Had car into my local indie today (MB Tech)....door casing off, cable was detached, re-attached...previous owner had rear class tints fitted so maybe they had disturbed something....anyway all now OK:D

Cheers,
DSB.
