Hey people after sorting out my rear reg led (1 faulty led replacement is on its way) I have decided to put front LED side lights so will be ordering them soon!

And on eBay I noticed there are LED lights for the headlamp and fog but will these cause a error on the onboard computer because I don't think they have resistors on them ?..

I would like to install HID's for the headlight and fog but can't find a decent how to guide anywhere plus I don't like the idea of drilling a whole in my headlamp :( plus I wouldn't know which make to go for

So what's everyone doing on here

Just put them in my S500. Bought canbus error free but guess what. I get error on dash but just Reset it every time. Not too much of an issue and easier than sending back. Look much better and don't have the yellow glow anymore. Put them in my door entry and interior too....no more yellow for my 2000 year car. Too many online to choose from.

If your car does not have HID already I wouldn't bother. You will have to have headlight washers (which you may have) and self leveling (which you wont have).

As above I wouldn't bother with hids unless already fitted but the sidelights and fog done in leds are a nice touch. I've recently done mine and I am delighted with the results.

I used a set of "cree" bulbs which were supposedly error free but I had to fit a resistor as well to get them working properly. There are specific pre wired resistors which are plug and play.

LED headlights will be useless and definitely illegal. Avoid LED bulb replacements for the main bulbs.

Cars that have real LED headlights (Audi, Lexus) have carefully-designed bespoke optics, not an eBay-sourced H1 bulb replacement.

No, and probably not.

You will not find an LED bulb replacement that puts out enough light. LEDs need to run cool (sub 70°C, usually): at the light levels needed for headlamp duty, the LED module(s) would be dissipating somewhere around 10-30W. It isn't possible to lose that amount of heat in a bulb-sized package without running at too high a temperature.

As I said, OEM LED headlights (Audi R8, Lexus LS600h etc) are bespoke units with a lot of heatsinking and often active cooling (fans).

On top of that, the Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989 is quite clear that headlamp assemblies type-approved to run approved filament bulbs may only use such bulbs. By this rule, HID kits are also illegal, although many get away with running them if they keep the beam pattern under control.

Seriously, stop thinking about LED headlamps. It's not legal or possible to use LED versions of standard halogen bulbs on the public road.
