Hello,

I have noticed some Mercedes have daytime running lights on all the time.

I have a 62 plate C180 SE executive.

Is there a setting to have the daytime lights on at night ?

Quite possibly, although they wouldn't be daytime running lights then

I think they dim when the headlamps are on

There is a menu item to turn them off for good. Nothing about turning them on at night.

Whats the menu item specifics on your CL ?

Driving lights on all the time or off

Driving lights are not the same as running lights, the bright LED strips in the bumper, with these they always go off when the headlamps are turned on

It might be possible on STAR or they were added,,,there was some confusion in the early days but the cars now come so that the running lights turn off when the headlamps come on

I have seen them on at night too, but much dimmed. Can't see the point myself as they won't help you see where you're going!

yes, this is a strange one, because last night I saw quite a few E Class's - I think the W212 (the one with the hockey stick DRL's) with the DRL's, sidelights and dipped beam on....looks kinda nice. You can see em a mile off!

I can't find it now but wasn't there a thread recently that had a DFT statement about it not being legal to have DRLs on at night (or with headlights on)?

I too have seen them on many cars at night (with headlights on) but they seemed to be dimmer so perhaps they are allowed if they are dimmed when the headlights come on.

They should work the following way(s)

On with no headlights
On with reduced brightness if you have Xenon's and they are switched on
Off when Halogen headlights are switched on. I'd imagine this is because the colour differences look a bit odd.

Unable to on daytime running led lights

Hi

Appreciate some expert help...

I just gotten a 2012 Jan c180 and initially the daytime led is lighted when the switch is in Auto.

But recently notice it's not switch on....
Thought the light is spoilt but when lockng the door, can see the light come on for a while....

Hence don't know what went wrong.

Have set the Dash Settings but no effect....

Thank you.

Running lights are not affected by the main headlamp switch settings, but if you have the headlamps on auto and they are on, then the driving lamps should be off.

That might be the 'see you home' function whereby, if it's dark, the lights (the fog lights on my car) come on for 20 seconds after leaving the car.

Yes... That's under the delay in turning off in Singapore variant... This shows that the daytime led light is not spoilt... However it is never on when I'm driving already... Be it night or day...

Previously, it's always on during night or day regardless the head lamp is on or not as long as the switch is on auto mode...

Arrrrgh.....
