Hi all just picked up my new car and already have a problem. 2012 e coupe, when you turn on the ignition there is a pop through the speakers, the radio works etc but will only turn up quite low, not full volume. Any ideas? Many thanks Simon

Is this a new car? If yes...the only thing to do is to go back to the dealer. If not...go back to the dealer.

It sounds as though the amp part is on if that happens, as all the above it will have to go back.

Congratulations on the rather nice purchase :D:D

Thanks all. The dealers is 3 hours away so will take it to my local dealership. Yes the car is new so they should sort it no worries. Thanks for the replies guys. Its just frustrating when you trade in a car with no problems, for a new one that has an issue.

Cheers Simon

A pop on your radio is not the end of the world...and will get fixed. A new car is not going to have absolutely no problems...how they are dealt with is the thing.

Sounds like a pre-amp problem, will not be the speakers I should'nt think, If your Dealer has a decent Audio Guy they should be able to sort this in no time and as the car is new, there should be no charge, get it back to them A.S.A.P.
Best of luck

And if youre not keen on 'pop' there are plenty of other music styles out there. :)

Sorry. Hope you get it sorted soon. I had a similar situation of trading in a perfectly working car for one with problems. My drivers side speaker distorted with bass. Replaced and working fine now but its all unneccessary stress.

Turn a problem into a challenge, a much better way to look at it

Well, it just gets better, what little power I did have in the stereo, the rear speaker blew up today, horrible noise the smell of burning followed by a silent speaker... :( not happy with this car at all... Its into the dealers tomorrow for investigation but I feel like exchanging it now. Not happy.

It's all related...chill. You do sound a little silly. Why were you continuing to use the radio in the first place?

Sounds hehe, like it might be one or more of the amplifier output transistors have shorted. So you get full dc voltage to the speakers.
Just get them to replace or upgrade it before your car catches fire.

I sound silly. ***, I would look in the mirror mate. I wasn't using the radio but turned it on when the speaker screetched at me and gave off a burning smell. I checked to see if it had blown.

Welcome to MB, you'll get used to the problems as most of us seem to while making friends on here.
What was the previous car with no problems ?
Did you find it a bit boring to just get in and drive it without it wanting attention ?

You want to reject the car because of a problem with the radio? What next, they change it, and a tyre goes flat...new car...and on and on etc.
