W126 Ignition control module

Hi

I own a 1988 W126 420SEL which has basically died on me (engine).

I believe the fault lies with the ignition control module which I have read to be a common issue with these models.

My problem is trying to find a replacement. I am really struggling here - I have a list of compatible part numbers however they are all 4 pins where as mine is 8.

My part number is 007 545 22 32

Any help here would be amazing please. I really want to get the car back on the road!

Hi Meps

I'm in the same boat with my '89 420SEL, same part number for the Ignition Control Box. I've already swapped the coil with no improvement. I am of the opinion now that the problem may be with the Crankshaft Position Sensor A0021533428. Have you checked that?

I can't tackle mine until nearer Christmas so I'd be interested to hear your outcome.

Try Rob Parker at Threepointed parts.

Iirc, thats the harder to find module. Crank position sensor could be another possibility though.

Very unusual for the cps to be the culprit on a 126
