...is this still done at service time, or does anyone do it at regular intervals (assuming you don't have a staggered set up)? I ask because they seem to still do it in the US.
I did mine last week during sensor rings fix I don't think Mercedes take the wheels off.
That's correct, most services are completed without removing the wheels and if you ask for the wheels to be changed around they charge you £50.00 extra.
Can I offer my wheel changing service £49.99 ?
That should equate to circa £200 ph.
Shouldn't do it, tyres wear dfferently on axles, just replace when needed.
i swap mine front to rear as the fronts tend to round off with cornering forces etc, so i put them on the rear to wear them more evenly. the rears tend to wear slightly more in the middle, so it balances out. i get 4 evenly worn tyres rather than 2 rears with the middle slightly more worn than the edges, and the fronts worn on the edges with loads of life left in the middle.
i only swap diagonally if wear rate dictates its necessary ie theres lots of roundabouts around here so the front left gets particularly hard worn, so if needs be i swap it to the right rear
I thought that this was now claimed to be bad due to shifting the stresses put in the carcasses of the tyre?
I only move front rear and back to balance out the tyre wear and because I don't like different tyres (which I currently have on my summers from those the garage put on)
