Still trying to figure out how it all works! How about:

  1. There is a button on the remote that looks like it should open the boot. It doesn't. Any ideas?
  2. Where is the OBD11 port?
  3. I would like the alarm to chirp when locking/unlocking. Is this a dealer configurable do you know? Or is it illegal now in the UK?

Thanks wise people!

2001 CL500 (W215? C215?) 64K miles.

1. You have to press and hold the button until the boot pops open.
2. Should be under the driver's side dash.
3. Can be coded, probably not by the dealer though. A good indie or contact Comand.co.uk

But very useful for locating the car in a car park!

From a distance put the key next to your head and press the unlock button, your body works like an antenna, then look for the flashing lights.

1. Hold the button down for between three and five seconds
2. Drivers side, down near the bonnet release
3. As far as I know never did make any sound, and to be honest, when coming home late at night, thank God

As far as locating the car in the dark, just press the opening button (bottom Left) and the lights will come on

Thanks folks. Last car (Jag XK8) used to chirp loudly which was brilliant for locating in car parks (very low to the ground car so not easy to see), and for knowing it had locked when you walked away.

With this car I am having to look at it when I press the button to make sure it locks which seems really silly but I am sure I will get used to it.

Re: sticking the fob in your ear, bizarrely it does indeed extend the range! I saw the Clarkson thing years ago and did not believe it, until I tried it! Crazy!

It's to do height, there is nothing in the human body the explain the effect. In fact one might argue the opposite.

Hi

just replaced siren on my car and this now chirps to signify locking and unlocking. To be honest I preferred the silent operation but apparently on the new siren this needs to be set by STAR.
