Hi all,
My 2003 model has started flashing the lights and the alarm keeps going off, I was only able to stop it by removing the alarm unit under the right side wing, Got a second hand unit from a 2004 model but no joy,
Do you think the fault is with this unit under the wing or elsewhere, tried replacing the battery in the key fob no joy on that one either, its a right pain as there is no central locking working as a result!

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance.

Buying a second hand used alarm siren is akin to buying a used light bulb, you need to replace with a new one with the correct part number, check with a Mercedes dealer, do you see your original in picture below?

Regarding the alarm, the one with the yellow sticker, can you recommend a supplier I can order a new one from as its proving areal pain to get it here.

The one with yellow sticker I bought from Mercedes for €116 including VAT it is supposed to be a replacement for the Black one in picture.

If I lived in the uk I could have got one from Scorpion alarms for about halve the price but I don’t think the operate in Ireland, apperantly those alarm sirens pictured are actually made by Scorpion.

You could give them a buzz to see what the can advise, see… Customer Technical Support Team… http://www.scorpionauto.com/stafftechnical.htm

I’m assuming that your alarm is not working, you can test it by locking yourself inside the car with the remote and stay completely still for 60 seconds then open a door/s/boot or bonnet… alarm should sound and indicators should flash, unlocking the car again or putting key in ignition will disable the alarm.

Locking the car with the remote arms the alarm.
Unlocking the car with the remote disarms the alarm.
Putting remote into ignition releases the immobeliser.
Test your remote with a digital camera, a different key below but same idea.

Edit; is the car battery in the boot in good condition?, if it’s the original battery then it could be coming to the end of its life as it will now be 9 years old anc could? Be causing the false alarms.

Let us know how you get on Conriel, with Scorpion, regarding sourcing/cost of these alarms in Ireland.

Hi Dec,
No joy with Scorpion, they don't supply this type of unit and said it is only available from a Merc dealer,, I"LL carry on looking on the web, cause the dealers over here are telling this part is not the problem and all I need is a new Fob €300 and the cost of reprogramming,
Crazy stuff!
I get in contact soon when I find the right one
Thanks all the best
Conriel.

Is the remote working properly and locking/unlocking the car EVERY time, does it pass the camera test on all buttons?
