Having just purchased a wind deflector,(hopefully we will get a better summer next year),I was wondering if anyone knows, when it is fitted ,can it be left in place on the roll bar and the vario roof still be opened and closed without damaging anything,or does it have to be removed when the roof is closed.

Nope it can stay there all year round, the only problem I find is that I can't see the rear parking display when the wind deflecter is down

Is the deflector genuine MB?

Just surprised the MB item blocks the PTS display.

Only when the roll bar itself is up as it then has 2 layers to get through. My recollection of the roll bar is it will automatically deploy if it senses you are going to flip so you don't need it up .... With just the single side up its not easy to see it but you can just make it out ...plus it makes a noise remember (the sensors)....

I have the wind deflector down and can't see the parking sensor display, it's fine when the roll bar or the wind deflector is up

And yeah just listen out for the beep or the crunch

Does it work? I left mine in the garage. We've just been wearing hats ...

Works a treat. I leave mine in all the time and never use the roll bar as it will activate itself if the need arose. That's the hope anyway!

With the deflector down the sensor is clear to me. Are you sure you have it fitted right? Seems really odd what you describe.... It should be the opposite????

That is indeed what should happen , having read the manual ..just don't understand how it detects cars that have taken off and are going to drop on top of you ;)

Yes to all the above. The Deflector can be left in situ. The LEDs on the Paring sensors can "just" be seen ,but listening is just as good. An easy way of getting the deflector up whilst driving, if you cant quite reach back behind you, is to raise the Roll Bar and this brings the deflector within reach.

Inclimonitor sersors can tell if the car is about to roll, the same as it can tell if you are going down a steep hill and drop a gear to aid engine braking....clever car this!!

I find the wind deflector works really well. With the deflector "up", and all four side windows up, then 70 m.p.h. cruising with the roof down is completely draught free ( and very pleasant ).
One small thing-I've never understood why the roll-over bar is electrically operated-why would anyone want to drive around with the roll-over bar up?
Am I missing something?

Some people don't trust the automatic system and therefore deploy it manually when driving with roof down.
