A140 shuts off when engine cold - no fault codes, ECU tested.

I read through the forum and cannot find a solution so posting a new thread.
I own A140 1999 1.4L. It started 2 weeks ago after I refuelled, the car started ok but was cutting off in idle, acceleration was erratic. I had it checked by my usual garage. The fault code at that time was P0100. I sent the ECU/Mass Air flow meter to ECUTesting and got it repaired.
After repair it was cutting the engine when idle, acceleration is ok and once the engine teperature is warm then no problem. Mechanic said that he tested coolant temperature sensor which is fine and it must be an ECU problem. I sent it back to ECU testing who have just called and said that there is nothing wrong with it.
The car was fully serviced and MOTed last month with spark plugs changed.

what do i do? what it the problem with it?

The garage had some other system but they also got it checked on the STAR system in a nearby Mercedes dealer - still no codes .

strange, perhaps someone could explain how you get a fault that logs no faults?

Even the first time problem started the check engine light was off, when i took it to the garage they connected it to the reader and said there is a fault code stored which was P0100. When ECU testing tested it they also said that there was a problem and they have repaired it.

No idea what to do now.

Crank sensors do not always throw up fault codes. By your symptoms i would not suspect the crank sensor though. Is it hard to start? Once started how does it drive? does it just cut out when coming to a standstill? I would put a fuel pressure gauge on it from start up and go from there. You will not get low fuel presure codes logged

Also once refitting the ecu with a new airmass the adaptation has to be reset on star

As above, does not fit for crank sensor (as I read it, it always restarts without a cooling period), suspect fuel pressure fault, either because of filter or pump.

Still the same issue guys - some more details if it helps

The car is idling at 650 - according to mechanic it should idle at 900.
adaptations were reset on STAR.
ECU tested on STAR no problems found, no fault codes.
Mass Air flow sensor is taking the correct amount of air.

No car for 3 weeks and I am bleeding money - please help.

Can you confirm that fuel pressure has been tested and found to be OK?

If not, we cannot really help much, with the chineese whispers.

So, as above, find someone that works with these cars full time, and is recommended for their MB prowess.
