Recommended Garage/Restoration

Hi All

Hope all's well

Apologies if this is being posted in the wrong place - but am after some help (please!).

I've got a '97 SL320 & although I've been close to trading in, I can't bear to give this one up so am now wanting to get it back to top condition.

Aside from wanting to get a full on engine/diagnostics check - it's looking a little tired in parts & there are a few bits (air vents broken/passenger vanity mirror crocked/drivers seat motor buggered) I want sorted.

I really want to take it to an absolute specialist - so was after some guidance from you all.

I was looking at Schmitt Motors Ltd; does anyone have experience of these guys or indeed have any recommendations around the North London area (happy to travel though!).

Thanks in advance for your help...any input much appreciated.

I don't recall seeing them mentioned on here, although there are a couple of independent mercedes garages around the North London area.
I'm sure that someone will post up soon.

If you are seeking to get a lot of work done it may not be in your best interest to confine yourself to ''local''.

Hi Chris/Mic

Many thanks for the posts.

Mic - you're absolutely right...and I'm definitely more than happy to travel further (a lot further!) afield.

I'll happily travel to make sure it's all done properly - so any recommendations very welcome.

Thanks again all

Why not try some of it yourself ? Replacing vents, switches etc is often a DIY job if you're fairly ok with a spanner and I'm sure there would be plenty of useful advice on here if you have any queries.

It's all part of the fun of owning a Merc if you enjoy that sort of thing.

Cheers

Jonny

Cheers all.

WG - I'll ping you directly - cheers for that.
JonnyCJ - You are right, it's definitely something I should do myself - but just have horrible visions of the spanner going through the windscreen (somehow) with me at the healm...

That's because you should have been using a T20 torx at that point !
