The windscreen washers on my 09 clc aren't working and wondered if anyone had any ideas on why this could be. The washer fluid resevoir is full of winter windscreen wash; and the jets worked only a few days ago,and they haven't been used during the cold weather so i am a bit confused as to why they do not work.

Any suggestions would be helpfull,

Thanks

Can you hear the pump run when you push the button on the stalk? If so it could be blocked jets - would doubt if all of them would be though. If not, it could failed washer pump or switch on the stalk or loose/failed connection on the pump. Has the winter screen wash been in the bottle all the time ie has the pump frozen?

When i press the button on the stalk the wipers come on but i can't hear the pump run. And yes, the winter screen was has been in the bottle all the time so i dont think the pump has been frozen.

Is a failed pump a common fault? Or something that can be easily fixed?

No idea of specifics for a CLC, mine were just general pointers. I'd imagine the washer pump is near/part of the washer bottle (mine's behind the wheel arch liner) find yours & check for voltage at the connections when someone presses the washers. Alternatively apply voltage to the pump terminals (after you've unplugged the harness ;)) and see if the pump runs.

I'm sure there are more experienced MB owners out there though that could be more specific. :)

Frozen fluid in pipework and jet nozzles.
The washer jets on my ML were frozen yesterday, cleaned screen by hand before moving, took 9 miles before all 3 jets worked.

check the tube leading to the jets, they are only a push fit on to the jets, they can come of if the jets become frozen.

Might be a stupid question but... Are you pushing the knob in far enough?
It's quiet a firm push needed to get to the washer position on my CLC.

I had a fiddle with the pump earlier today and there was a loose connection in there, and when re-connected the pump worked fine. Thanks for all your help guys! :)
