Took the new G.F christmas shopping yesterday in Cabot Circus in Bristol and although she's got a really nice Peugeot 207 that's only 18months old she always wants to go in my old N reg 202 and on asking her why as I know she loves driving her reply was that my car just felt nicer to be in than hers. To be honest this surprised me as her cars about £7k and mines only worth about £700.

That my friend is the "MB" factor. Most of us I'm sure couldnt tell you why, but we are all drawn to them.

It's the love thing. My GF still hankers after my 964, cos it was the car I met her in.

It is weird as over the years I've driven most things on the road but never a Merc and even though its just and old 202 it does still drive really well. Once you close the windows it seems as though the world outside doesn't exist.

I have to say, when I was younger and single a Merc always seemed to seal the deal on a girl I was after, especially if she didnt know what I drove and I picked her up for a first date and the first words were "is this your car" or "lovely car" accompanied by a smile always meant I was onto a winner!!

When I met my wife she had a Rover, she wont drive anything other than a Merc now as she says she feels safe in them. I wont argue with her!

This is the first time mine's had the AMG on her own. I'm sure shell be fine, it's just what do you do with 500 hp in the ice.

Her daily drive is the deisel audi, which does not react much when you floor it. The SL is a bit different though ...

The audi is having it's filler tube fixed (see other thread).

Driving a Mercedes is special, 202s are nice, 203's are nice, 204s are nice, 219's are nice, 211's are nice, 221's are nice. They're just so nice to drive.

What no 216 :shock: they are just wonderful;)

Sorry TV, I lost how count of how many Mercedes cars made that I like...

If the 216 is like the S class, which I imagine it is but with better seats, I imagine it to be supreme!!!!

I was being picky Steve ;) It is a 2 door S class with the extra touches with superb seats that I can adjust from the drivers door for both sides of the car.

I did not realize just how big they really were until one passed me on the way home from the meet.

I think you have missed your vocation there Steve, your photos are professional quality. You really have an eye for composition.

Take the advice of others and get some printed off and hawk them round a few places (as you tour?) You could have a very profitable sideline there..

As Lilian enjoyed the going away, there will be some more outings for us in the new year. I will ask you were some places are in you pictures, I haven't been to Scotland since 1975. Though she does not or is able to pass comment on much it does seem to register with her when we are somewhere nice. She just freaked out on a London railway station.

Someone took the pi$$ out of my old C250TD Estate the other day, granted she is getting a bit rough around the edges, usual rot starting to creep in, but mechanically and interior wise its immac. I would honestly rather drive that than a Mondeo, Vectra or something else newer. Nothing feels as planted on the road than a MB.
