I feel sorry for the passanger but he may well have been egging him on. He may not have been, who knows?

He probably wasn't going 140mph. People tend to exadjurate speed and its the daily mail but his own death was his entirely his own doing.

Some of the comments about how cars should be restricted to 70mph on the DM website are laughable.

This happens to be my neck of the woods along which I travel regularly. Having cars pass you at 100/110 is a regular occurrence at night, so I have no doubt that 140mph is a good guesstimate in this instance.

It's also four lanes in much of this section, so there's plenty of road for those that want to play dangerously.

Regardless that the OP chose the DM report, it's fact. The M1 was closed due to this really major accident and caused chaos and hours worth of delays in our area.
