The horizontal switch on the passenger seat fell off (one of my passengers probably just stamped on it). I thought I could just fix it back but it doesn't seem to be holding to anything. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think the whole part needs replacing. Any suggestions. Thanks.

There are no parts for these switches, it will be best to take it off and then perhaps one can see how the knob was held on

If I could figure out how to take it off I think I could try it. I wonder if there is any set of instructions somewhere on the internet. thanks.

Looks like the knob may be available, although as Malcolm says, there don't appear to be WIS instructions. Diagram below for my car, assume yours is the same. Inchcape prices:

A21187010107C45 £34.88
A0015453104 £1.30

Thanks Troon! Do you know how to take off part 170? Does the whole seat need to be taken out? Thanks.

Absolutely no idea, I'm afraid. I'd imagine it's clipped in to some sort of moulded-in arrangement on the back of the plastic valance.

The side panels will have to be removed, I can sort out the instructions later in the day

Hello to everyone as this is my 1st post and what better way than to start by saying thank you to a member for some great advice.

I just wanted to say a massive thanks to Troon for his post where he gave the part number for the horizontal switch for the electric seat on a w211.

I had the exact same problem as Grey Skipper, in that my switch had also fallen off and disappeared.
I rang 3 different Mercedes dealers in London, who ALL told me that the switch was not available separately and that I would have to buy the complete seat motor for around £40 !

I then saw your post and rang back one of the Mercedes Dealership again and asked them if they had the part nos in stock and how much it would be. Lo and behold they did and it would cost £1:45.

I did feel like having a go at them for not mentioning that the part was available and that I did not need the whole motor but I thought this might mean that they might not say to another customer that this part was available and thought the best revenge would be to post on here and to also help someone else out if they also needed this switch !

For future reference, the Driver side horizontal switch is also given below. Initially I thought it might not be the right switch as when I went to the Parts Dept, the switch showed up as being for a CLS/CLK. I told the guy that I would take it any way as I thought that I could doctor it if need be but it WAS actually the right part.

I did try to get the part number for the Vertical electric switch, in order to post it on here for future reference, but the guy in the Parts Dept said that it appeared that it was part of the seat motor.
Now based on past advice, I would not take this as gospel as they did say the same about the £1:45 horizontal switch !
Maybe someone would know what the part number actually is and post it onto this link ?
I did manage to get the DRIVER side horizontal switch and it is listed here in case someone needs it.

On Grey Skippers picture, you can see a long black tube which slots into the motor on the seat and the 2 pins on the seat motor themselves just sit in two holes which are on the horizontal seat switch.

A 001 545 3104, Passenger Side Horizontal electric seat switch W211
A 001 545 3204, Driver Side Horizontal electric seat switch W211

Thanks again to Troon and its guys like him and all the other members which make it that much easier in keeping our Mercedes on the road :)
