There are loads of double din units that will go in. It'll be not too difficult to find a unit with Sat Nav, SD reader, DTV, bluetooth....
Likely you would need a plastic surround unless Dynavin make a unit to fit yor model.
You will need to consider ISO and fakra adapters for easy instal of the wiring / antenna.

Others would know better but I would expect them to work ok. An older Comand unit that would go straight in would be lacking by today's standards though.

What about a Pioneer Appradio??

I have one in mine, been brilliant.....

appradio.jpg

You can plug your iPhone or Android phone in and use the apps on it, I use NavFree on it and works a treat.

I usually just have my 120gig iPod plugged in though and my whole music collection in the car.

Any double din unit like the above will work with fascia adapter. You will need a steering control interface to retain steering controls but it wont work with the cluster display.

or there are aftermarket units like the Dynavin that are the same shape as the factory unit so no fascia needed. http://www.dynavin.com/products/product_dnv_mc2000.php

Or you coulld install Comand 2.0 which would have been the factory fit unit if your car came with Comand.

Or you can upgrade the dash to a post facelift and fit the newer Comand NTG2 unit which would have been fitted to post facelift W203. http://www.mwstewart.co.uk/articles/w209faceliftconsole/

Just been offered a Pioneer P99RS head unit at a good price.
Not sure if I want to loose out on features and looks of the App Radio to go back to a single din head unit, but wanted one for a couple of years so......

If you are interested in this I will be putting an ad up for it. £235 delivered with 10 months warranty remaining. All boxed as new.

No, it is the App Radio, if I had been offered a P99RS for £225 I would have given the app radio away for free!!

I have been offered the 99RS for £550.

A fascia adapter, they sell one too but not great.

You are best to use dynamicsounds.co.uk buy the steeering wheel adapter and the fascia.
This makes it a completely plug and play install, plus you keep your steering wheel controls.

The adapter gives you reverse, ignition swithched, illumination, speed pulse.

They also sound rubbish and have a pretty dire GUI, the latest ones have a nicer front end, but as soon as you delve into browsing tracks or contacts it looks like it is being driven by a ZX Spectrum!

My choices would be....

£300
App Radio, if you have an iPod, even better if you have an iPhone or Android phone.

Clarion VX402E Nice little double din unit.

Sony XAV601BT - This is like the app radio but works with mirror link, so Nokia phones and the Galaxy S3. Looks quite nice and meant to sound OK too.

£400

Clarion NX302E - Mechless doubin din media and nav. No cd drive like the App Radio, but who uses CD anyway?

Pioneer AVH-4400BT - Another media player but with the advanced app mode as well.
Gives you a CD/DVD player as well, at the expense of a smaller screen. Also not as clean looking as the app radio.

£600

Pioneer F940BT - Pioneers new App radio with built in nav.

Clarion NX502E - Nice media unit and it has nav, it adds a CD/DVD player as well over the 302E but it also has far more features like more audio outs, better amps, customisable display colours, better EQ etc. etc.

I agree, when I was young all I was interested in was 'toys' as long as it did 'everything'. As I got older I went more for quality.

Don't get me wrong, search my posts on the BMW forums when the Dynavin was announced, I was so excited, had really high hopes for them.
However, got my hands on one and was gutted.
Look nice, when off, and even the 'home' screen looks ok now with the D99 platform, but after that it goes downhill.
Poor GUI still which I could sort of live with, but the sound is just flat, sounds worse than a cheap £79 radio from Halfords.

Compare something like the Clarion phone screen with the Dynavin....

I just think that for the price it is not good enough.
When it was launched you were paying £800 for something from Pioneer, Alpine, Clarion etc. so £500 was a saving and a sort of OEM look.
However, these guys are all now offering similar for around £300, Dynavin are still asking £5-600 and the menus are now looking a bit dated as well.

For that sort of money you could have an NTG2.5 and pay for the trim pieces needed.

It's all only personal opinion, I nearly bought one myself for the C Class, but a mate who knows me said I would end up ripping it out because I wouldn't have been happy with the sound vs oem looks.

I went with the Pioneer, and even with that I am thinking of swapping for something more audiophile, so he was right.

If it were a facelift car, or an e class I would be more concerned as the fascias for them just don't look right with an aftermarket double din fitted, but do think the C Class and ML can take it well.
