How do i find out the part number for the heater control panel on my wifes 2002 A210.
It has a faulty switch, so i want to replace the panel (3 circular dials & two push buttons - one for recirc' & one for air con).
Ive found several on ebay, but not sure which one to buy.
From what i can see, there's two types - those with air con & those without-presumably, the ones without air con just have a dummy button in place of the real air con button?

Ive found one with the PN 168 830 13 85 on & another 168 830 12 85.

A local motor electrical specialist is going to fit it for me, but i just need to give him the right part.

Help!

Gosh, its a minefield. . .

The breaker with the part number 168 830 12 85 is a Mercedes specialist.
He says his part fits all A class with air con - including the A210. . .

Every one ive found on Fleabay this evening (about a dozen) have those part numbers on - either 12 or 13 in the middle.
Ive not found any with 19, 20, or 22 in the part numbers?

It would be easier if you could supply the VIN for the car in question

VIN is : WDB1681352J806489

Hope this helps to identify it

Using that VIN gives a part # A1688302285 for the heater control unit (SA code 580)

The same number that I put up, I scanned all A class models and all the same

EPC lists 2 different part numbers for the control unit depending on SA code and the number quoted by me has a precedent number of A1688302085. The OP may find the precedent (discontinued by MB) part on offer second hand.

Is it likely that a part with a different part number would work?
The units ive been looking at look absolutely identical & their sellers all say they are compatable with all A class models.

I can find loads with 12 & 13 in the part number, but none with 20 or 22 - even though the parts look absolutely identical (well, 12 does - 13 has a dummy A/C button).

Im thinking i might buy it & try it, as £25 for the "12" part number is worth the risk, as a new part from MB is over £300 + vat!

My info was from both a 2006 EPC and current, no other numbers shown at all.

I also checked from the first car released to the last and everyone the same number, the 22 number is the replacement number for the tempermatic, the automatic one still uses the first number, and that is 19

In view of all this it must be worth asking the sellers on Ebay if there is another number on the units somewhere

I am wondering if the sellers are reading a number from say the fascia, a part that was never sold on its own :D;)
