Hi guys,

I am trying to remove the fuel pump, because it is leaking and I want to buy the repair kit from "Carwood" in Coventry.

I have managed to remove almost everything, although I have broken a fuel line which I have to buy now...

Right now I am stuck, I can't manage to remove the pipes in picture 1, and I do not want to break them, because then I have to buy new ones.

Can anyone tell me how to remove them?

Thanks,

You have removed the clamp so the pipe ends just pull out, they have o-rings that provide some resistance.
Replace those o-rings and the white seals MB sell them don't forget to lubricate them when assembling.
A gentle levering should help.

I will give it another try right now. With what should I lubricate it? normal grease?

Also, I have just bought the repair kit for the fuel pump. Is that a pretty straight forward job? do I need to grease anything whilst changing?

Head plates of the pump are really tight, I used Impact driver to remove bolts. Check the instructions or links I've posted (actually WIS docs) in the another thread. The small metallic seal is tricky one.

Edit: here and here

Engine oil or petroleum grease.

Do you mean that I have to grease the small seals inside the pump? because i did not do that, it looked too clean.

i think he means the o rings and seals on the fuel pipes. the fuel pump MUST be kept clean.

The internals kept very clean and you can use clean diesel inside the pump the oil or grease for the o-rings on the pipes just a light smear to allow them to seat without snagging.
Clean the outside of the pump before dismantling dirt is your enemy.

Underneath the pump there is 2 location clips that hold the pipes in place, flick these open then use a tiny screwdriver to pop the pipes out the high pressure pump. That is why you are finding the pipes hard to remove, they cant flex outwards. The clips will probably break as you unclip them, they always do, I keep a good few in stock and they are about £4 each from MB.

As regards that kit you bought from Carwood, take it back and get the parts from MB. Carwood parts are shockingly poor quality and from China, the amount of problems Carwood Rewind have caused customers I have seen is unreal.

Just advice.

Good point those black clips at the top of the pulley are tricky critters and get brittle.

Thanks Steve, Unfortunately I had already fitted the kit from carwood, so now I have to wait and see if it will leak again... I did not managed to install the pump yet, because I have to go tomorrow to MB to order the o-rings and seals. (I forgot to order them).

I hope everything goes well and I will post again after it's fitted.
