My brake pad sensor wear indicator came on last night, mechanic had previously told me I'd be needing front brakes soon. Can't complain as I've only replaced the front pads in my ownership and having covered over 57k in that time, not bad for a 2 tonne auto tank I think.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for replacement discs and pads for the front, rear pads and discs were replaced about a year ago. Looking for OEM quality or better.

Cars a 2002/02 S500

All responses appreciated

I fitted the Euro car parts discs and pads to mine around 3 years ago.. their more expensive brand .. but worth a check with MB for their prices first..

Pagid seem to be a good buy at the moment, with the 30% discount from ECP they work out the best value for OE quality.

a few on here have fitted them and I haven't heard any bad comments.

I've just bought Pagid front discs from ECP for mine and was really surprised to find the hubs painted which I always do myself, so pleasantly surprised.

I went to ECP and got a full set of TEXTAR Discs and TEXTAR E Pads.
They are superb and I can vouch for the E Pads being low dust.

I fitted mine about 23,000 miles ago and one of the really impressive aspects is that the Discs havent rusted at all.
When I say havent rusted I mean the areas that the Pads DONT touch.. In other words the hub centres and the outer rim of the disc...
My original MB ones certainly had rusted a lot....
The other point of note is that the surfaces are groove free.. I think like the Greenstuff Pads I used to use, the E Pads are made with a kinder composition.
Highly recommended..
Dont forget to mention the forum for your discount..

Not everyone like so called standard pads, I have never used them and never had any problems either on my last 6 cars

Whilst my Indy passes on his MB trade discount to me, it's MB all the way ...

But if an indie says they use genuine parts then that is what they will fit,, but there are more choices out there

Agreed. I can get my MB parts cheaper that anything from ECP etc. and they are still MB spec and still made by the same people.

Can't complain - just had my front discs, pads and sensor replaced using MB parts for £300 all in.

Who said an S Class was expensive to maintain ...

£300....... you paid too much. New front discs, pads, sensors from Dingbro cost me £98 inc vat. 1 hour for me to fit.

Sounds like I saved £200.

I think my discs are a wee bit more expensive ... and you did your own labour.

Anyway, we both paid way less than a stealers bill would have been :D

Tried Pagid and found them very dusty and did not "feel" right.

Now running with EBC and they are fine. I have used ATE and Textar in the past without any issues.

Another benefit Malcolm, is they deliver and it is a good service. I dont have to get out of my armchair, which suits me fine.

What would you suggest for low-dust pads for a W221, Malcolm?

I will not use anything else,,, my wheels stay spotless, they retard you quicker with less pedal pressure, when TMD make some E pads for the 221 and 216 I will try them

Malcolm uses EBC Low dust pads. They are available in different flavours but the recommended ones for road use are "Green Stuff" and "Red Stuff".

I have used both in the past and they are excellent..
The Red Stuff are a more extreme ceramic based version (Probably better for a heavier car such as the 221).

Here are your cars details for the Red Stuff fitment..

http://www.ebcbrakesdirect.com/car/...-+BENZ&model=S-Class+(W221)&year=S350+(2005-)

The Red stuff I had were on a Golf GT Tdi and they were incredible when you used them like you meant it.. Its the nearest thing to a "Stoppy" in a car I have experienced..
