Decided to change my front pads for piece of mind as ive had the cars nearly 2 years and not changed them.
Got the passenger side done in a jiffy, whipped the driver side wheel off, got the caliper off BUT THE PISTON IS STUCK OUT!!

Does anyone know of a decent way to free the piston, ive tried G clamps, blocks of wood, metal and it wont budge!

Ps i did manage to get the new pads in and everything buttoned up but im sure its rubbing as there is a wee bit of heat in the caliper and hub.
Also wondering if it is just the pads bedding in....

I think it will be best to change the caliper (£60 exchange) it could always stick again.

You cannot use heat, the only hope might be a can of plumbers freezer that works in the same way as heat, and that is shock.

Stuck with what corrosion or misaligned ?
If its not straight (measure its projection) you will have to straighten the piston or maybe pump it out and start again.

Im not sure why its stuck... I just know it damn solid!!

Im also thinking a new caliper might be the best solution

I have one on my V70 that I cannot move, they are exchange and you get the money back when you return the old one

None at the monent, but there's an OM642 in the Jeep Grand Cherokee!
You might get away with popping the piston out, removing the caliper, cleaning the piston carefully and fitting new seals.

If in any doubt, replace with a reconditioned caliper - some would recommend replacing both sides.
