Hi,
I've noticed a patch of oil under my car. Looking under it, it seems to be from gearbox area. Recently noticed some problemswhen driving, ie problems with engaging gears, much higher revs when changing gears. Can this be due to low oil level in gearbox? What are the common places for oil leaks on 5 speed automatic gearbox?
Thanks
Mario

i'm afraid the quickest way would be to put it on some ramps, whip off the undertray & have a proper look.

It could be something as simple as a leaky sump plug, or gasket seal has failed.

Either way if you are running low on oil, it will not do any good for the internal pump, TC & the box will begin to run hot & damage itself.

HTH :)

You have the connector on the side of the box, and these do and can leaks, its called the pilot bush, and very common, not expensive to change.

There other rubber gators that can split but not seen one on a 211 car, but there will be a first, this is a little more involved as the valve block is dropped to fit the new gator.

If the box has never had a fluid change, now is the time to do it along with a new filter.

A good indie is much cheaper than MB for this job

The selector shaft seals are a common failure on a 722.6 box and when they leak they drip quite a bit, much more than a pilot bush.

So true Steve, mine went, that why I mentioned it,, thanks:D

Hi guys,
who would have thought that all garages are heavily loaded with work before xmas, I guess I will have to look at it myself or wait until after xmas. If it will be relatively easy fix I may try to do it myself.

Then pilot bush is easy, but as Steve said it could be rather a lot of oil to be coming out from there, the interlock boots can be done but much harder and not so easy laying under the car

If its not pouring out, get the oil level checked put right, at least you could use the car until new year.
