New to Mercedes Benz and I have been told that home created CDRs will not play in standard fit CD Radio systems does this include 6CD multichangers?
I have a C320 CDi Sport

I make my own MP3 discs for the Audio 20 using CD-R discs with no problems. They are made using iTunes.

My home made ones work fine in the 2002 SL CD multi changer ...make sure you create them as audio cd instead of mp3 cd tho..

I use CD R's in my 2001 S class it has a 6 changer unit. There are a few makes of discs that can be tempremental so it might be a trial and error test to find the best ones

A 2006 car should be no problem with home made disc, if Gordon has got them to work, then no problem for sure

CD players can be temperamental at times. It has nothing to do with the year of the car, it is to do with the quality of the disc and therefore can be rejected by the player.

I did.. many years ago.. see a radio tech guy .. run the lead of a pencil round the outer edge of a cd that would'nt play in a machine

Your cars a 2009 though. A 2006 wont play mp3 cd.

Sorry to correct you a little on this.

In the Comand 2 and 2.5 the laser pick up head was set too low to allow most home recordings to work or shall we say play, most would play on good high reflectivity disc, the Comand APS was ok, these are the wide screen versions that came out mid 2004, and most since have all been good.
The Comand 2 and 2.5 were CD only and no DVD

I never had any trouble in my old W203 C320 (2001), Sony discs always seem to work well.

I could never get computer generated CD-Rs to play in either my R230 or R170.

I was told by Alpine who made the Audio 10 unit in the R170 that they were specifically designed not to play disk copies as an anti piracy move - commercially produced CDs contain a code which the player recognises, ordinary CD-R copies don't have it.

The sure fire solution is to use CD Audio disks to make the copies with - these do contain the codes, but need a CD duplicator not a simple CD burner to write them - and of course they cost more because the price includes a copyright element.
